Women In Defense (WID) is the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) affiliate founded to engage, cultivate and advance women in all aspects of defense and national security.
Women make up 51% of the talent available to tackle the nation’s toughest national security challenges.
We are dedicated to fueling the 51 percent - powering and empowering women working in defense and national security.
WID is an organization for those seeking to deepen their understanding and relationships within the U.S. defense and security arena through skill enhancement, relationship cultivation, leadership development and career advancement.
Across the country, WID is comprised of women and men from industry and defense organizations of every size; all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces; Government agencies, academia, think tanks, associations, and professional services.
WID represents current and next generation thought leaders in the defense and security sectors. This empowerment organization provides its members a business environment for professional growth via National and Chapter educational programs, awards and scholarships, and collaborative WOSB and STEAM initiatives.
WID is a non-profit 501(c)3; tax ID 53-0196547.
The WID Mid-Atlantic Chapter proudly serves U.S. Army Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) and surrounding communities—including Baltimore City and Baltimore, Cecil, and Harford Counties—through professional development, networking, scholarship programs and outreach.
Additionally, we have donated more than $25,000 to Harford Community College, Cecil College, Harford County Boys and Girls Club, Habitat For Humanity, Girl Scouts of Central Maryland, Harford County Women of Tomorrow, and other local organizations.
