All members are encouraged to participate in the voting process for President and Secretary for the two-year term of October 1, 2020 to September 30, 2022. This is your opportunity to elect an outstanding candidate—even yourself—to lead the mission of our chapter: to advance the role and recognition of women through professional development, networking, scholarships, outreach, and philanthropy.
The following candidates were nominated:
President: Sharon Mackey
Sharon Mackey is an S&T Investment Strategist with the Office of Science and Technology, S&TCD, C5ISR Center, U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command. She is the current president of the WID Mid-Atlantic Chapter.
Secretary: Joan Michel
Joan Michel, managing partner of Profile Partners LLC, has 25 years of experience helping federal, state, and local governments develop, plan, and implement strategic initiatives, including creating private-public partnerships among government agencies, businesses, non-profits, and educational institutions. She has experience in managing change management, technology transfer, and public-sector human capital initiatives, and is passionate about helping her clients create exceptional organizations. Joan’s clients range from large government agencies and non-profits, to school systems and small commercial firms. Prior to her launching her firm, Joan was responsible for leading business management functions for an Army research and development laboratory at APG. Joan was twice a finalist for the Athena Award, named the Visionary Leader by the Northeastern Maryland Technology Council in 2018, and recipient of a silver Excellence in Government Award from the Federal Executive Board.
Joan wants to use her term as secretary of WID in three ways. First, throughout her career, Joan has benefited from the support of mentors, and she wants to help WID strengthen its culture of mentoring for women who work in the defense sector. Second, in the secretary role, Joan will use her organization development skills to help create more robust internal systems so we can expand our service to members and our community impact. Third, Joan wants to have some fun and meet some new people!
The nomination voting period closes on September 30, 2020. Please use the link below to cast your vote.
Newly elected officers will be announced on October 1, 2020 and shadow the outgoing officers throughout the month of October. The officer installation ceremony will occur at the annual chapter meeting in October 2020.
